CAUSES

- Software update glitch
- Enabled 'mute' setting

SOLUTION

- Hold down 'Sleep/Wake' + 'Home' buttons until the device restarts and you see the Apple logo.
-  Disable 'mute' setting via Settings > General > Use side switch > Uncheck/toggle side switch
