The long
awaited successor of the current Apple iOS family has finally been revealed. Ladies
and gentlemen introducing the new iOS7.
Going by Apple’s statements regarding the OS,
it is termed to be the world’s most advanced mobile OS with its all new design
and advanced features.
Here is
a sneak peak of its features.
As you
can see, Apple has decided to do away with the ‘3D’ looking icons interface &
dock and instead embrace a sort of simple yet elegant interface with a much
appealing choice of colors.
New improved Siri.
The
iconic Siri app for which Apple is highly credited for has been upgraded to be
much more intelligent while also being accorded a slight face lift from the
previous Siri app that you previously knew.
Some of
its new features include:
- A
redesigned interface that fades into view on top of your current screen
- A much
more natural and understandable speech pattern.
- A wider
variety of information sources (Bing, Wikipedia, Twitter ….etc)
- Can
handle a much wider scope of tasks
Re-designed
App Store
The app
store is another key feature of the Apple iPad & iPhone because through it
you get access to a number of apps relevant to your device.
This
also has been added a few new features which include:
- Apps are
now automatically updated
- Introduction
of a ‘Kid’s Category’ whereby one can download a list of apps catered for children.
- Introduction
of a ‘Apps near Me’ whereby a list of apps relevant to ones current location
can be accessed.
Find My
iPhone
This
feature introduced in the previous iOS versions so as to help locate a stolen
or lost apple device has also been accorded a slightly higher security feature.
The use of your ‘Apple ID and Password’ is a key feature of the enhancement.
In order
to turn off the ‘Find My iPhone’ or erase a device, your Apple ID &
Password is required.
A custom
message is displayed even after the device has been erased and requires your
Apple ID and Password to reactivate it.
Upgraded
Safari browser
The
default browser provided by Apple has not been left behind in the new iOS7. It
has been tweaked to better your browsing experience.
- One of
the more noticeable key features is that the buttons and bars stay hidden until
you scroll to reveal them.
- Unified smart
search field whereby anything you type in the text field automatically suggests
the closest match to what you are looking for.
- New tab
view to enable you to switch tabs more easily with a simple swipe.
AirDrop
Airdrop
is a service used in Macs, iPads & iPhones to share or transfer data across
devices through wifi and Bluetooth.
Its new features in the iOS7 include:
- Ability
to make your device visible or invisible to anyone running the iOS7 through a
simple tap in the control centre.
- Recipients can choose to ‘Save’ or ‘Decline’
received files. Any saved files are stored in their respective locations.
Improved
Photo library
Apple
has introduced a new feature called, ‘Collections, Moments & Years’ to
manage your photos and videos. This feature enables the groupings of photos and
videos based on time and location/place.
Improved
Camera
Toggling
between the various formats (video, Panorama, Still and Square) and filters
(Mono, Tonal, Noir, Fade, Chrome, Process, Transfer, instant……) is now easily
accessible through a simple swipe.
Improved
and smarter multitasking
Multitasking
is now much easier and efficient through intelligently scheduled updates
dependent on your routine use of the apps.
Double
tapping the ‘Home’ button reveals preview screens of opened apps and with a simple
swipe, you can be able to delete an app.
Enhanced
notification Centre
Introduction
of a new feature called ‘Today’ which pretty much tells you what lies ahead of
your current day so you do not have to deal with any unnecessary surprises.
Control
Centre
This
is whereby you can easily access all apps and controls like the wifi, Airplane
mode, Bluetooth, ‘Do not disturb’, brightness….. etc and it is easily
accessible by swiping up from any screen.
So there you have it, some of the
