CAUSES

- Improper insertion of headphone jack
- Hold switch is set to ‘HOLD’
- Low volume settings
- Maximum volume limit settings
- Paused mode
- Outdated iTunes version software
- Improper dock/cable connections

SOLUTION

- Ensure the headset jack is entirely in its port
- Ensure the Hold switch is disabled
- Check the volume level
- Change/remove the maximum volume limit settings
- Ensure it is NOT in paused mode
- Ensure you have the latest iTunes software
- Ensure the iPod is firmly docked and all cables properly connected (Apple Universal Dock)
